One week from today the annual International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) kicks off in Las Vegas. The show is an amazing display of all the latest and greatest the consumer electronics industry has to unveil in the coming year. While BigDoor won’t be attending the CES extravaganza we will be watching to see what’s new as it relates to gamification.

Today, Ford kicked things off for us with the news they will be using gamification to launch the new Ford Fusion at CES. As part of their marketing campaign, they have incorporated a mobile application that allows consumers to test out the 2013 Fusion through augmented reality. In mid-December the company released this promo for the app (with an awesome synth-pop soundtrack!) to encourage users to check it out. The game itself changes over time leading up to CES to keep users engaged.  As Fusion marketing manager Samantha Hoyt said they “want to have an exciting and interactive way to build anticipation leading up to the reveal of the all-new Fusion.” Very smart Ford!
